Trampoline and Tumbling
The sport of Trampoline and Tumbling is for every child who loves to run, jump and have fun. Physical benefits include speed, strength, balance and spatial awareness. But the real value is in the mental benefits such as confidence, discipline and attention to detail. Unlike gymnastics, T & T appeals to a wide variety of body styles and requires considerably less training time, even at the top levels. With 6500 members competing in 40 states, ranging in age from 3 to 45 years, Trampoline and Tumbling is an exciting and growing activity for children and in 2000 returned as an Olympic sport. In Texas, one of the pioneer states in this sport, one will see thousands of children, beginners to advanced, participating in local and state events.

Safety
Like any other sport, Trampoline and Tumbling is safe only when taught in a progressive manner by knowledgeable instructors in a safe environment.

Enter Queen City Gymnastics and Kids First Sports Center. With one of the best facilities in the USA, Queen City Gymnastics is ready to take the lead in this up and coming sport.

Our Offerings
T&T Classes (Trampoline & Tumbling)
Trampoline and Tumbling classes are for every child who loves to run, jump and have fun. Focus is on the four official USATT events: trampoline, tumbling, double-mini-tramp, synchronized tramp. Great for divers, gymnastics, aspiring competitors and anyone who wants to learn how to defy gravity. For safety, we recommend that all children having access to backyard trampolines be registered in T&T classes.

Total Tramp!
Total Tramp is a trial class which focuses 100% on trampoline. If you just love the trampoline, this is the class for you; having one full hour of trampoline instruction and fun. Don't forget, when used as an add-on class, like any other smaller tuition, receives a full 20% discount.

Teams
Formerly governed by the USATT, in 1999 USA Gymnastics became the governing body of trampoline and tumbling. At Kids First, Team members are selected based on a combination of experience, talent and desire. We feel it is quite an accomplishment that in its first two years of competition our team placed 2nd at the Ohio State Championships.

Director: Steve Anderson
A world class tumbler, Steve was a U.S. National Trampoline and Tumbling Team Member in 1992-93 and a Senior Elite, 1991-1999. Steve's primary goal as a coach is to inspire children to cultivate concentration and self-discipline, life-skills that they can take with them beyond the walls of Kids First Sports Center!  Coach Anderson believes that a coach cannot give self-esteem to a child, the child must earn it by consistently giving his or her best effort and it is the coach’s job to encourage that path. As Head Coach, Steve has led Kids First T&T Team to 4 consecutive championship finishes and is looking at an even better 2006-07 season.

How Many Classes Per Week
On this subject, we have a little different view than many organizations. For younger or beginning tumblers we recommend one class per week. The decision to come two or more times per week is very personal and we recommend considering more than once per week only after your child has expressed their desire for faster progress. Your Program Director will be glad to discuss the merits of such a decision should that time come.

For the older tumblers, especially the cheer tumblers, it becomes more important for a twice per week training schedule as learning the more difficult tumbling skills takes longer.

Make-Ups
Although it is always best to attend your regularly scheduled class, we do allow two make-ups per term. Please call the office to schedule a make-up, as we do limit the number of make-ups in any class.

What To Wear
Girls wear a leotard or shorts & a T-shirt, tucked in. Boys wear shorts and a T-shirt, tucked in. For tumbling, bare feet are best. For trampoline, some may want to wear tramp shoes which aid in comfort. Hair should be pulled back for safety, as long hair interferes with rolling, somersaulting and twisting skills. Please, no gum or jewelry.
